Millington alderman to get Student Peace Prize

Frankie Dakin, the Rhodes College junior who was elected last year to Millington’s Board of Aldermen, will receive the Student Peace Award during the 2013 Vanderhaar Symposium March 14 at Christian Brothers University.

The 8th annual symposium will be held from 7-9 p.m. in the Spain Auditorum. Panelists include Delvin Lane, leader of Memphis Mayor AC Wharton’s Gang Violence Prevention Team; Gabriela Benitez, coordinator of the West Tennessee’s Immigration and Refugee Coalition; Malik Shaw, vice principal of Pleasant View Islamic School and co-founder of the American Muslim Intercultural Network; and Kyle Kordsmeier, Organizing Director of the Workers Interfaith Network.
