Taking the high road
January 25, 2013 in Featured Question of the Week, Obama's Second Inaugural, Question of the Week, Spotlight Answers by L. LaSimba Gray, Jr.
President Obama has a mandate to lead this nation as the “United States in America”. This mandate resulted in defiance of the extreme political right and the downright racists of the Tea Party and media. I am delighted that President Obama has taken the high road and will no longer tip toe through the U. S. Congress but will walk as a man with a soft voice but who holds a big stick. We must take care of our elderly, sick, children, veterans and the poor. We must make our schools and streets safe. We must stop the senseless wars for oil and commerce and reinvest those resources to end hunger and suffering in the world. If we do not, we spit on the graves of Dr. Martin L. King, Jr., William Lloyd Garrison, Henry David Thoreau and the founding fathers of our nation; but more than desecrate the names of our impacting personalities, we disrespect the principles of democracy.
