You are God’s temple

Which Memphis-area house of worship do you find most beautiful, spiritual, sacred? And why?

For me, the most beautiful exterior for a house of worship is that of St. Peter’s Church on downtown Adam’s Street, whose majestic spires lift up to heaven an area dominated by the politics of this world. But the most beautiful interior I would judge to be that of neighboring St. Mary’s Church, with its lovely contemplative, prayerful environment bringing a little bit of heaven to us here on earth. Nevertheless, I think St. Paul puts it best when he writes that the human heart is the most beautiful house of worship: “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you…For God’s temple is holy, and that temple you are.”
