If you were addressing the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the DAY AFTER the election, what would you say? What advice would you offer to your fellow Americans about the next four years?

After a close and hard fought presidential election the nation need not be divided between the victors and the losers, red states and blue states. In the next four years the challenges we must face as a people will not be solved by half of a nation. We do not need Democratic Senators and Congressmen or Republican Senators and Congressmen, but United States Senators and Congressmen. What we hold in common is so much more than our differences. The perfection of our union requires sacrifice, compromise, and good will so that our arguments do not become more important than the solutions we create. Divided our problems will conquer us. United there is no problem we cannot find a resolution for.

Our greatest enemy does not come from outside our shores. Citizens divided against each other are our greatest threat. No matter how difficult our challenges let our rallying cry be e pluribus unum. Such is our strength and our hope, and the bridge that will carry us from 2012 to 2016.
