Thank God for our unity in the midst of diversity
November 2, 2012 in Advice for after the election, Question of the Week by Fr. Bruce Nieli
If you were addressing the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the DAY AFTER the election, what would you say? What advice would you offer to your fellow Americans about the next four years?
Let us thank God for our two party system, for the ability of opposing political candidates to campaign in an atmosphere of non-violence and respect, and for our continuing belief in our founding American motto, e pluribus unum, out of many, one. May be build unity amidst our diversity over the next four years, always focusing on our human solidarity whose end is the common good, with a special sensitivity to God’s poor.
