Give priority to needs unaddressed by campaign
November 2, 2012 in Advice for after the election, Question of the Week, Spotlight Answers by Steve Montgomery
If you were addressing the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the DAY AFTER the election, what would you say? What advice would you offer to your fellow Americans about the next four years?
If I were to address the nation on the day following Tuesday’s election, I would say “Now is the time to put aside our differences and give special priority to those issues that neither candidate had the courage to address during the campaign, particularly the needs of the poor, the immigrants, the disenfranchised, and the children, all of whom were ignored, not to mention the environment! Let us do so with a strong dose of humility, \and a realization that the nation that does not care for its poorest is a morally bankrupt country. We need each other to do this, and we need prayers from people of faith everywhere.
