If you were addressing the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the DAY AFTER the election, what would you say? What advice would you offer to your fellow Americans about the next four years?

Fellow Americans, this is one nation. Perhaps nothing is more divisive than a partisan election, but we have freely chosen in spite of all the quirks and problems that beset us. One thing we should all agree on is that now is the time to demand that our leaders genuinely work together for the common good. We cannot afford deadlocks, gridlock and disrespectful attitudes. Continuing on that path would be ruinous, and we need to remember that the world is watching. For those of us in faith communities, we must communicate that the God of all people desires justice and righteousness, not lip service.
