1,460 ways to respond to the election
November 2, 2012 in Advice for after the election, Featured Question of the Week, Question of the Week by Chris Altrock
If you were addressing the nation on Wednesday, Nov. 7, the DAY AFTER the election, what would you say? What advice would you offer to your fellow Americans about the next four years?
1,460 days of prayer.
That’s what I propose. For Christians whose candidate wins. For Christians whose candidate loses.
1,460 days of prayer.
Let’s make the next four years less about parties and partisanship and more about prayer.
The Apostle Paul writes “I urge that supplications, prayer, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.”
I propose we take these words literally.
Imagine what might happen to us and through us if we spent every day for the next four years in prayer for the winning presidential candidate and his fellow leaders.
Could it be that by the end of that term, we’d long for four more years of the very same thing — regardless of who was in office?
