African-American women and Bible subject of radio show, column, talk

African-American women, slavery and the Bible will be the topic of this weekend’s “Things Not Seen: Conversations about Culture and Faith,” hosted by CBU professor David Dault.

Dault’s guest will be Dr. Katherine Clay Bassard, professor of English at Virginia Commonwealth Univeristy and author of “Transforming Scriptures: African American Women Writers and the Bible.”

Bassard is visiting Memphis to deliver the annual Naseeb Shaheen Memorial Lecture for the Marcus Orr Center for the Humanities. She will speak at the University Center Theater at the University of Memphis, 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
