Memphis Islamic Center condemns violence in Libya

September 14, 2012 in Faith Matters by David Waters

The Memphis Islamic Center issued this statement on recent sectarian violence in Libya:

“Memphis Islamic Center unequivocally condemns the killing of the Hon. Christopher Stevens, US Ambassador to Libya, and three of his staff members. Though this incident was reported to have been in retaliation for a defamatory movie towards Prophet Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, this type of violence is clearly against Islamic teachings and is contrary to Islamic values. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ambassador Stevens family and the loved one of all the victims.”
