God is in our response to what has befallen the victims and families
July 27, 2012 in Question of the Week, Reflections on the movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colo., Spotlight Answers by Micah Greenstein
This week the Faith in Memphis panel reflects on the movie theater massacre in Aurora, Colo.
Aurora demonstrates the damage one evildoer can literally do in an instant. All the good the dead and injured did for others was swept away in seconds by the horrific deed of one individual. So often we ask ‘”Where Was God?” when bad things happen to good people. The movie theatre massacre cries out a different question: “Where Was Man?!” The only place for God in this is in the response to what has befallen so many shattered families. God is in the outpouring of community and the prayerful presence of an entire nation. God is the Healer of broken hearts Who waits for us to counteract one man’s evil action with millions of loving deeds.
