Who/what is an American? What does America mean to you and your faith?

Again and again my family tells the story of our roots--how, on both sides, we came from the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and from varied nations. For almost all of us (except for Native Americans), being American means coming from elsewhere. It means becoming part of a great experiment--still being tested--of being one people in a rich tapestry of different ethnicities. Within that vision going back to our founding leaders, we are still working to become "one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.”
